Henrik Lundqvist Wrote a Big Check

According to Sean Avery...

The aptly named Tiny's, at 135 West Broadway, opens for dinner this week. Mr. Avery, usually seen wielding a hockey stick, has lately been spotted clearing tables. “Some Swedish guys on vacation were shocked when I filled their water glasses,” said the Rangers forward, who now has time to hang around his joint every day. “I'm doing everything I can—except my chef doesn't want me in the kitchen.”
That chef is John Martinez, formerly of Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Mercer Kitchen and Spice Market, who rustles up New American Italian fare.
Tiny's is Mr. Avery's second joint; he opened sports bar Warren 77 two years ago with Matt Abramcyk (of Beatrice Inn fame), who is also a partner in Tiny's along with his siblings, Ana and Jack. Mr. Lundqvist, the Rangers goalie, plays more of a supporting role: “He wrote a big check,” said his teammate, “and he'll do his part to promote Tiny's.”
Mr. Avery expects to open more Big Apple eateries at some point. “I want to stay in the business. There is good money in it if the place is busy.”
