Post-Game Notes & Reaction
-Henrik Lundqvist stopped 24 of 27 shots to improve to 12-10-1 on the season, including a 9-4-0 mark on the road. He is 5-2-0 with a 1.67 goals against average, a .938 save percentage and two shutouts in his last seven games. Lundqvist is now tied for the league lead with nine road wins this season.
From The Blueshirts Blog:
The Rangers caught a break in the second period when Fisher beat Henrik Lundqvist just 25 seconds after Fedotenko had tied the game off a slick feed from Marian Gaborik.
Everyone in the building thought that Fisher had given the Senators the lead, but the officials conferred and went to the video review, which showed that the puck never crossed the goal line, deflecting off the post and out.
“I thought it was a goal because they celebrated,” Lundqvist said. “They looked so sure. I was going for a glove save, and then I decided at the last second to use my head, and it hit the side of my helmet and went down. It wasn’t the best decision, but it was still a save. Apparently it was a save.”
Fisher got his second goal of the night a little later on in the second period, but after Christensen tied the game in the third, Lundqvist made up for it with a glove save to rob Fisher of a hat trick.
