Henrik Ended Season With Sore Knee

ShareThis
If there was ever a reason for the Rangers to acquire a dependable backup to play 20 games a year, it is this: The wear and tear of a season during which he appeared in 73 regular-season games plus the Olympics was costly for franchise goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.

"The inside of my knee was bothering me for the last month of the season," the Rangers goaltender told Newsday Thursday. "The outside had bothered me before, and this time it was the inside. I had it taped and started getting other treatment right after the season. Nothing invasive, mostly rest. Now I've been skating two or three times a week without equipment." Dominik Hasek Thinks Lundqvist is the Strongest Goalie in the World

ShareThis

Q: Whom do you consider the strongest goalkeeper in the world?

DH: While I have not seen the Russian goalkeepers, I think Henrik Lundqvist. But if you ask me the question again during the season, I can answer it in detail.

That's high praise coming from Hasek, one of the greatest goalies of all-time. But I'm sure what also makes this praise extra special for Henrik is the fact that he has repeatedly stated that Dominik Hasek was one of his idols growing up. First Henrik received accolades from Wayne Gretzky and now Hasek. Not bad.

Have you ever wondered what Henrik would look like on the ice if he wasn't a goalie? Well, thanks to Aaron Voros' Twitter account we can now see that image of Henrik without his goalie equipment. Today Aaron posted this photo of himself and Henrik at the Rangers training center. I wonder if Henrik's any good at stick-handling, passing, and shooting?

Thanks to Aaron Voros' Twitter account, we've got some news on Henrik. Last night, Henrik and his teammates Aaron Voros and Sean Avery, attended a Pearl Jam concert at Madison Square Garden. When it was over, they then traveled downtown to Avery's bar Warren 77 in Tribeca. It's good to hear that Henrik is still in New York and is still hanging out with his teammates, the three of them seem like they have a great friendship and have a lot of fun together. Hopefully, they can convince Henrik to start a Twitter account too!
